Welcome Week and the First Week of School

 Hello Ministry Partner!

Let me tell you about the past month in campus ministry!

We started the school year with a trip to Rock Springs, TX for our annual conference called the Student Institute of Campus Ministry (SICM).  Here, students and staff learn about discipleship, international student ministry, listening to the Holy Spirit, leading small group, and more.  One of the group's favorite sessions was about Spiritual Friendship.

SICM is often described as a fire hose of information, so pens are very busy and there is a lot of coffee.  But we also found time to have fun in the outdoors!

This is Jessica form UTD who I met during this week. She is constantly expressing her gratitude for what God has done in her life and the friendships He has placed in her life.  This is us about to go zip lining!

Welcome Week

Welcome week was by far my favorite part of this month.  There are so many students who are hungry for friendship and to know God.  I am so thankful God has allowed me to be one of the ones who welcomes these students into community and into knowing Jesus.  Thank you for being a part of that and making it possible for me!

After lots of Uno games and hot days at campus events, we made some great connections with the girls in these pictures.  Many of them got involved in core (small group) and even started inviting people to join in on whatever game we were playing.

At UNT we played zombie tag, which was the most fun!

At the end of the week we invited students to come to our local church.  Each year I am amazed at the amount of new students God brings to us who want to be a part of Christ centered community.

Core and Thursday Night FOCUS

One of our core values is one-on-one ministry.  We believe God works powerfully through intentional Christ centered friendship, so we set up time with all of these people we meet at welcome week to get to know them personally and invite them to study scripture with us in a one-on-one setting.  We also invite them to come to our small groups, which we call core, and to our large group gathering on Thursdays (TNF).

Student Spotlight

Thank you, thank you, thank you for partnering with me in ministry! The FOCUS pastors and apprentices are all supported by donors like you so we can make college students our main priority.  It is because of your support that any of this is possible.

Many blessings!
