Summer Ministry Updates

Image
Hi everyone!   How is your summer? Welcome to my blog if you are new to my support team this year.  And thank you for your support, it means so much for our students and for me. I'm so honored to get to spend my time in ministry to college students.  Here's some sweet moments from the summer so far.   Baby Jude is our honorary 8th member of the Denton pastoral staff team. In other words he's our team lead's son and hangs out with us at meetings.  We celebrated his 1st birthday at the splash pad!  A sweet hug and ice cream with my buddy, Anylah Some of our students hosted a night of worship at their house My friend Aileen (left) decided she wanted to be baptized! Aileen is one of the students in our ministry who is a testament to God's work on the college campus.  She entered our ministry a few years ago not knowing who Jesus was and through friendships she built and studying scripture with Claudia (right) she became a Christian!   This is Rikk Watts (bottom left cor

June Ministry Update!

Hello Ministry Partner!   Thank you so much for making this year possible. It has been a year filled with growth, laughter, tears, new friendships, and joy in the Lord. Thinking about all the people who have loved me and poured into me this year is overwhelming.  Each of my donors, my apprentice class, all of my teachers, each member of our staff team, the FOCUS directors, our student leaders.  I am richly blessed.     This year has changed my life and my heart to look a little bit more like Jesus. The Lord has shaped my heart in many ways, some that I probably don't even see. He has taught me that he is a gracious and compassionate and ready to extend grace. I have learned this through the person and character of Jesus.  Jesus is literally incredible - he cares for the little people, the ones who seem insignificant; he is bold and unconcerned about the opinions of others; he looks to the heart and is always ready to offer grace and acceptance; and he shows us who the Father is.

Wow What a Year!

Hello ministry partner!  It's the end of the year!  Woohoo! I'm so thankful for what God has done this year and for your support in all of it.   I'm giving my end of year sermon on the 26th at 2pm and it will be livestreamed.  I'll be talking my takeaways from the year. I'd love for you to watch!  The Denton Staff Team!                                                                            I've loved working with working with these guys this year End of Year Party! We got to celebrate all that God has done within our community at our end of year party.  We recognized our seniors and honored our student leaders who have put in so much work into ministry.  It's sweet to look back and see how through one on one Bible studies, small group, and hang outs God has brought beautiful fruit in each of our lives this year.   This was our last core of the year.  Aileen, Anylah, and I made tacos and we all wrote encouragements to each other.  Thankful for these gals!

The Home Stretch

Exciting news!  I have been offered a full time position with FOCUS and I accepted!  Next year will look much the same as my apprentice year, except for less course work, so I'll have more time to meet with students and take on more responsibilities with the staff team.  And I'll be staying in Denton, so I'll be able to continue the relationships with students that I've already built this year.  I've learned so much this year about pastoral leadership and am excited to continue putting that into practice and growing in it. Thank you for making this year possible. We're in the home stretch of the semester!  It's bitter sweet to see the year approaching it's end.  We had one of our last leader meetings last night where we worshiped together and shared good news from the year.  At the beginning of the year, the room full of our leader team seemed so big with some people I knew and a lot that I didn't know that well (There's over 30 of them), but las

Hello Ministry Partner! Sending out my blog to you always reminds me of how thankful I am for your support.  The amount of time I'm able to spend with students on campus and learn from my classes and readings would not be possible without you.  These students really are being blessed by the efforts our 8 member team that pours in to them in love and in turn are blessed by you!  You have direct connection to campus ministry and are doing effective Kingdom work. Our work together is producing fruit like this: Staff Retreat Our staff team went on a retreat this month to rest, refresh, and connect with each other.  It's really special to get to be a part of a team of ministers who are passionate about campus ministry, learning, and love Jesus. Throughout the week various staff members shared about spiritual disciplines that have been impactful to them: humility, self control, surrender, prayer and intimacy, and sacrifice.  After the Prayer and Intimacy sermon we each spent the next

Winter Camp and More

Hello Ministry Partner! Thank you for praying for Winter Camp.  Despite last minute changes and some scrambling on the part of our admin team, it happened and was a success!  Many of our students showed up and were blessed by community, the lectures, and worshiping our Lord together.   Before I get into the past month, I'd like to invite you to to our annual Showcase Fundraiser: Each year we send students from FOCUS to the Student Institute of Campus Ministry where they learn what it means to be missionaries on their campuses.  This is a valuable Kingdom investment in each of their lives and has great impact on the lives of the students they encounter on campus.  To help fund their trips to the conference we host a quality  showcase and artisan market.  I would love to see some of you there!  You can purchase tickets here  anyfocus.org/showcase .  Back to the Blog - Winter Camp!
