The Home Stretch

Exciting news! I have been offered a full time position with FOCUS and I accepted!

Next year will look much the same as my apprentice year, except for less course work, so I'll have more time to meet with students and take on more responsibilities with the staff team.  And I'll be staying in Denton, so I'll be able to continue the relationships with students that I've already built this year.  I've learned so much this year about pastoral leadership and am excited to continue putting that into practice and growing in it. Thank you for making this year possible.

We're in the home stretch of the semester!

It's bitter sweet to see the year approaching it's end.  We had one of our last leader meetings last night where we worshiped together and shared good news from the year.  At the beginning of the year, the room full of our leader team seemed so big with some people I knew and a lot that I didn't know that well (There's over 30 of them), but last night the room felt small and familiar.

I was remembering how a lot of the student leaders in that room were freshman two years ago; new to college, new to community, and some new to Christ.  Now they have almost completed a whole school year commitment of serving their peers on campus.  Each of these people have been faithful to meet new students, invite them to and lead a small group, meet with them one on one, show up to events, and make community happen.  They have been faithful to live this year on mission with Christ.

Denton FOCUS Leader Team 2022

"Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are so that no one may boast before him...Therefore, as it is written: "Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:26-31

We've been in a series on Thursday nights over the Holy Spirit, which sparked a lot of good thoughts and questions among our student body.  Cole and I gave a sermon together over the Holy Spirit at work in community and friendships.

Keanna and Olivia, two of our small group leaders, have built a sweet little family among their small group members. Really proud of them.

Some of the gals took a day trip to Eisenhower State Park.  It was a good bonding time :)
This is Heather, one of our seniors this year.  She's been a committed member of our ministry for a long time.  We'll miss her for sure.
Anylah! She is soo faithful to being a part of community and to wanting to know Jesus.  She is going to our campus ministry conference this May where she'll learn skills to take back to TWU this fall to minister to other students.  I am so looking forward to the ways that she joins God in his work at TWU.  The seed is planted and is growing!  Please be in prayer for her.

This month's student testimony comes from a FOCUS alum!

With me staying on staff next year, I will continue fundraising for financial support.  Please be prayerfully considering if the Lord is leading you to continue partnering with me in ministry, financially or in prayer.  I'll be reaching out soon individually to ask you about it.

Thank you for your continued support throughout this year,
Much love,
Becca
